Project Summary
From 2006 to 2011, Telmaco designed, installed, and supported a complete tapeless production and archive system for NOVA’s Sports Channels. Built on Avid and Aveco platforms, the system replaced tape-based workflows with centralized ingest, shared storage, asset management, editing, playout, and a digital archive. This transformation enabled NOVA to streamline live sports production, scale to HD, and ensure long-term media preservation.

Overview
Before this project, NOVA relied on tape-based systems that slowed down live sports production and complicated archiving. Telmaco implemented a state-of-the-art tapeless infrastructure, integrating ingest, editing, playout, and archive into a seamless digital workflow. The design prioritized scalability, redundancy, and reliability to support both SD and HD production while future-proofing NOVA’s operations.

Integrated continuity and studio playout using Avid Media Stream MSS8000 servers, Airspeeds, and Aveco Astra automation, supporting highlights, replays, and continuity for 16 channels.
Digital Archive
Oracle/StorageTek SL500 robotic tape library (400 tapes, 4x LTO-4 drives), Spectra Logic 8TB Nearline storage, managed by SGL FlashNet software.
