Project Summary
The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) is the national public service broadcaster of the Republic of Cyprus, responsible for radio and television services that inform, educate, and entertain audiences across the island and abroad. With decades of experience in broadcasting, CyBC continues to modernize its technical infrastructure to meet international production standards. In 2025, Telmaco successfully delivered and integrated a new 8-camera Full HD Outside Broadcast (OB) Van for CyBC. The project included the complete design, coachbuilding, and installation of an advanced production system capable of supporting complex live events including the coverage of the EU presidency. The OB Van was built to European standards, offering high reliability, operational flexibility, and full compliance with CyBC’s technical specifications.

Overview
The new 8-Camera OB Van for CyBC was designed as a self-contained broadcast facility capable of handling multi-camera productions in any location. The system architecture integrates HD camera chains, video switching, audio mixing, intercom, monitoring, and recording/playout servers into a compact and ergonomic mobile environment. The van features separate production and sound control rooms, engineered for optimized workflow and acoustic performance. Built on a 15-ton chassis, it includes redundant power, air conditioning, and hydraulic leveling systems to ensure safe and stable operation under all conditions. A dedicated Technical Support Vehicle with a 44 KVA generator provides independent power supply and equipment transport.
The Challenge
Telmaco undertook the project which faced some interesting facts:
• Designing a mobile production system that balances high functionality with limited vehicle space
• Integrating diverse broadcast systems (vision, sound, intercom, routing, control, and graphics) into a unified workflow
• Ensuring compliance with stringent European and Cypriot road, safety, and broadcast standards
• Achieving operational redundancy to guarantee uninterrupted live transmission under field conditions
