Telmaco contributes to the Thessaloniki Metro with Barco Video Wall
Telmaco undertook the supply, design, installation, commissioning, training, and maintenance contract for a state-of-the-art 24/7 operational video wall system to meet the needs of the Signaling ATS at the Thessaloniki Metro Control Center, located in the Pylaia depot.
On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the Thessaloniki Metro was officially opened to commercial use by the city's residents. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, alongside President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou and the leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, symbolically pressed the start button at the Thessaloniki Metro Control Center following a ceremonial event held at the Pylaia depot.*

Barco video wall consists of a system of ten (10) RGB laser rear-projection modules. With an average continuous operating lifespan exceeding 125,000 hours, the system offers over 14 years of uninterrupted use.
The system is powered by a redundant array of two (2) Barco control units. In the event of a failure of the primary control unit, the system seamlessly switches to the backup unit in less than 5 seconds, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
Operators can manage and edit displayed content in real time or using pre-saved layouts (presets) through Barco applications. They can also perform various functions such as powering the projection units on or off, manually switching between control units, and much more, providing flexibility and reliability for mission-critical operations.
Upgraded Videowall at the Athens Metro
To meet the demands of the similar Video Wall at the Syntagma Metro Control Center in Athens, operated by STASY S.A., Telmaco performed an upgrade in October 2024.
The previous display system, which had been operating continuously since 2011, was replaced with a new, state-of-the-art system featuring twenty (20) RGB laser rear-projection modules, identical in technology to the system installed at the Thessaloniki Metro Control Center. The system is powered by a redundant array of two (2) new Barco control units.
Operators can utilize Barco applications to perform multiple functions, identical to those available in the Thessaloniki Metro Control Center.
